Laos, August 30, 2024 — SCG International Corporation Co., Ltd and KP Company Limited, a leading distributor in Laos, have formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The agreement was led by Mr. Yongyos Pholtanawat, ASEAN Supply Chain Business Director, and Mr. Pasatxay Philaphandeth, President along with Mr. Yasuo Philaphandeth, Senior Vice President. This partnership designates KP as the official distributor of A+Grow agricultural transport vehicles and equipment in Laos.

ASEAN Supply Chain Business team from SCG International has identified a significant opportunity in Laos’ agricultural engine market, valued at over 2.2 billion baht. Laos market is experiencing strong growth compared to other ASEAN countries. Consequently, SCG International plans to introduce brand A+Grow, including agricultural transport vehicles, plows, and tractor tires into this sector. The aim is to generate revenue and capture market share, particularly with Rod-Sing, an agricultural transport vehicle known for its robust performance. The Rod-Sing can also operate effectively in flatlands, and mountainous areas, and can be easily adapted for different uses. It also facilitates the transport of agricultural produce from remote areas and offers farmers an affordable option compared to traditional vehicles like the E-Tan or pickup trucks.

Although Laos has a population of approximately 7.7 million people, but it remains a market with high business potential. In addition to agriculture, the country’s highlands and mountainous terrain. Along with its rich mineral resources such as gold, copper, iron, included biomass and other minerals, present significant opportunities for development. SIAM Cement BigBloc Construction Technologies Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Gujarat based BigBloc Construction Ltd and Thailand’s SCG International Corporation Co., Ltd., (SCG International) has launched its India operations with the commercial production of its first plant in Kheda, Gujarat. With the vision of launching next-generation walling solution for the Indian market, the joint ventures has invested around Rs. 65 crore in setting up a 300,000 cubic meter per annum capacity project including India’s first AAC Wall Plant at Kheda district near Ahmedabad (Gujarat). The AAC Wall will be marketed under the brand name ‘ZMARTBUILD WALL by NXTBLOC’. The joint venture company will also manufacture AAC Blocks.

The plant was inaugurated in the august presence of H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, a Guest of Honour, Mr. Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister Industries, MSME, Government of Gujarat, Chief Guest along with senior officials from SCG International, BigBloc Construction on 10th June 2024.

In FY 2021-22, BigBloc Construction entered into a strategic Joint Venture with SCG International from Thailand for setting up state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for AAC Walls and AAC Blocks in Kheda District, near Ahmedabad (Gujarat). BigBloc Construction holds 52% in the joint venture company while 48% with SCG International. This is SCG Group’s first investment in India. Established in 1913, SCG is one of the largest cement and building material companies in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
